If your recipe was not a matter of common knowledge, not readily discoverable by legitimate means, and you took reasonable precautions to maintain its secrecy, your family member may be liable to you for misappropriation of your trade secrets. However, if your family member put together basic ingredients that were discoverable by anyone experimenting in the kitchen, you won’t have an actionable cause.
